Contracts and authorities

17 weeks before
Check the lease: rent is usually paid a year in advance
Most Indonesian leases run for a year and are paid up front; notice periods and any refund follow the contract, not a statute.
14 weeks before
Tell the owner in writing that you are not renewing
By letter or message with a date; keep proof it was received.
13 weeks before
Arrange viewings for the next tenant
11 weeks before
Sign the new lease
10 weeks before
Pay the deposit and the first period of rent
There is no statutory cap; one to two months is common, returned after the handover.

Arrange the handover date for the old flat
6 weeks before
Cancel internet and TV contracts
6 weeks before
Book a van for the cellar and small items

Book time off for moving day

Draw up the list of address changes

PLN electricity: change the account holder or buy a prepaid token
For a postpaid meter apply for balik nama with the lease and your KTP; a prepaid meter only needs the meter number.

Water: PDAM subscription or the shared well of the building
Not every area has PDAM; in many buildings the water is billed with the service charge.

Record and report defects on moving in

After the move

3 days after
Report to the RT and RW head, with a copy of your KTP
Reporting to the neighbourhood head is the first step everywhere; without the RT's letter the Kelurahan does not process anything.
7 days after
Pos Indonesia and the delivery apps: change the address
Redirection is limited; most parcels come through couriers, so change the address in each app.
10 days after
School: PPDB places by zone, so the KK address decides
State schools admit by distance from the address on the family card; the KK has to be updated in time.
2 weeks after
Dukcapil: SKPWNI moving certificate, then a new KTP and KK
Report within 30 days of moving (Population Administration Act, art. 15); the old Dukcapil issues the SKPWNI, the new one issues the KTP and the family card.
2 weeks after
Update the bank, your employer and NPWP with the new address
Banks ask for the new KTP; the NPWP address changes at the tax office or through Coretax.
2 weeks after
Update subscriptions and delivery services
2 weeks after
BPJS Kesehatan: move your first-tier health facility
Through the Mobile JKN app or a branch; the change takes effect the following month.
4 weeks after
Vehicle: mutasi for STNK and BPKB when you change region
Moving to another regency or city means re-registering the vehicle at Samsat; the SIM follows the KTP address at renewal.

In the app: when setting up the move or under Tasks → Template. Everything can be deselected; a template is a suggestion.
